Your large party will love the expansive Henry Cunningham Estate located on East State Street next to Greene Square. This house is 2,400 square feet and includes four bedrooms and two and a half baths. It has sleeping arrangements for up to 12 guests, including two queen master bedrooms and two guest bedrooms with twin beds. Additionally, there is a queen-size sofa bed. This is a great house for two families as it has two living rooms and two kitchens so you have ultimate flexibility. Multiple flat-screen TVs are available all over the house so there will be no arguments over who wants to watch what.
The Henry Cunningham Estate has an impressive exterior with two main floors and windows all around. Inside you’ll find a homey living room decorated in shades of blue and white on the first floor with plenty of seating, flat-screen TV and ceiling fan. Bedrooms are roomy and well-lit with comfortable beds. The kitchen offers an open floor plan that includes the dining room. It has all necessary appliances for cooking. Head upstairs to find the second living room that has more of a colonial ambiance in shades of brown and neutral. The kitchen, dining area and laundry room are combined in one large room on this level. Go outside to find a cobbled courtyard with places to sit and patio tables. This house is sure to make everyone feel right at home.
The location on State Street puts you within easy walking distance to Greene Square and the Broughton area. To the south is Wall’s BBQ, a bit to the east you’ll find Cha Bella and to the north is Washington Square and Pacci Italian Kitchen. If you go west you’ll find the Webb Military Museum, Columbia Square and the Davenport House Museum. The main must-see areas in Savannah are arguably River Street and the Historic District. The Historic District is quintessential Savannah and will fulfill your image of moss-draped trees and cobbled streets. This is one of the largest historic districts in the country and is full of old architecture, grand mansions, monuments and museums. You can find the Mercer-Williams House and Forsyth Park here, which were both in the “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” book and movie.
River Street fronts the Savannah River and was revitalized in the 1970s to make use of all the abandoned warehouse space. Now the neighborhood is full of retail shops, art galleries and restaurants. Two monuments on River street include the Olympic Cauldron and the Waving Girl. Nearby is Factors Walk, which is a neighborhood in the bluffs that is full of old alleys and passages. One of the best ways to see more of Savannah is to take one of the many tours available. You can find walking tours, trolley tours and tours by horse-drawn carriage. There are also a number of ghost tours available to visit the haunted spots, including the many cemeteries.
