Southern Exposure is one of our beautiful Savannah vacation rentals and one of our larger ones too at 1,900 square feet. It can sleep six guests and offers three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Our downtown Savannah rentals are located in prime spots and this one is no different on West Waldburg Street not far from Forsyth Park. This famous park is sure to be on your historic Savannah vacations itinerary so you can’t go wrong staying in a house so close to it. Large Savannah vacation rentals like Southern Exposure are great for family vacations or any kind of group vacation where you don’t want to spend extra time planning where to meet. Like all of our downtown Savannah rentals, Southern Exposure is fully equipped with amenities to make you feel at home. You’ll find a full gourmet kitchen, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, kitchen tools, bed clothes, towels and more. Our goal is for you to feel right at home the moment you step through the door.
Stepping into Southern Exposure will reveal an expansive living room with wood floors, comfortable seating and a TV above the fireplace. A large area rug accents the white and blue decor. Large windows give the room a bright, airy feeling. Head to the kitchen and find another big floor plan that includes a bar with seating for four. Behind that is a well-appointed kitchen on one side and a formal dining room on the other. The table in front of the window can seat six guests. Head upstairs to find the big bedrooms, which are also equipped with flat-screen TVs and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are roomy and well-stocked. The second floor also has a nice balcony and the first floor has a covered porch.
With such easy access to Forsyth Park from this property, you may want to make it your first stop. The neighborhood is a quiet one in the south corner of the historic district and includes Whitaker, Drayton, Gaston and Park Avenue streets. Forsyth Park occupies about 30 acres of green space and within its confines are picnic areas, a lunch cafe, fragrant gardens and a picturesque iron fountain. Nearby are Monterey Square and the Mercer House. The area, including these attractions, was used in the movie “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” Several restaurants are also in the area where you can enjoy great views of Forsyth Park as you dine. If you head north from here, you can find the historic waterfront called River Street. Once full of cotton warehouses, the street is now home to tons of shopping, eating and tourist attractions. Take part in historic modes of transportation with the Savannah Riverboat Cruises or the Historic Savannah Carriage Tours. Both will take you back to a simpler time as you explore the city and waterfront.
Museums are always a popular draw in Savannah and the best place to start is the Savannah History Museum, which chronicles the city’s beginnings all the way to the present. It also offers organized tours and free maps. If you’re interested in African-American history, then you can’t miss the King-Tisdell Cottage – Black History Museum, the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum or the The Beach Institute – African-American Culture Center. Maritime fans will love the Ships of the Sea Museum, which is located in the Scarborough mansion once owned by the Savannah Steamship Company president. Other great museums in Savannah include the Davenport House Museum, the Roundhouse Railroad Museum and the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum and Girl Scout National Center.
